I love my blog name, it took me seconds to pick and it reminds me of the days I'd stay up all hours to finish a good book. In other words, it reminds me of last night.
But yesterday I got to thinking, now that I've had sometime to think about it, would I still have picked my blog name? The answer is yes, I'm very happy with it and it's honestly like being a book reading super hero- Look up in the sky! It's a nerd, it's a geek, no, it's Midnight Book Girl!
The only other blog name that I even briefly considered was Up Late With Kate. That's a title I've had in mind for awhile, but I always imagined I'd use that when the day comes that someone hands me my own radio station deejay job... not that I have any training in that area, but I like talking and music and it's one of those winning-the-lottery type fantasies.
So my question to you is... Would you change your blog name? If yes, to what? If no, was there any other name you considered?
I'm horrible with naming things. I thought about Bookaholics Anonymous but settled on the much less creative Ooh . . . Books! It was inspired by my inability to go into a bookstore and leave without a book.

Kate, I received your message on my blog. I am adopted, so I think that what you are planning on doing is the most unselfish thing any person on this planet can do. I am going to follow you on Twitter as well. have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - I picked "This Girl's Ever Expanding Library" initially but just changed it to My Ever Expanding Library after I felt I was being a bit over generous with the term "girl", lol. I can also sympathize with the up late reading thing. If you like your name, stick with it but if you are a somewhat new blogger like myself, now would be the time to change...that didn't help much, did it?
ReplyDeleteYour name fits with your background, though :-)
Love your blog name and your alternate, too. I thought of mine in about two minutes but I didn't think about anyone ever reading my blog. I just started it to record my books. It's grown on me over the years, so no, I don't think I'd change it. And booklogged seems to fit me as well.
ReplyDeleteEvery so often I see a really quirky cute title and think that I wish I was clever, but I'm not particularly, so I'll stay with what I've got.
When I first started blogging, it wasn't a book blog, so the name made more sense. My postings were more random, snippets of information and ideas, but as I progressed into book blogging, I didn't change the name. Then again, I still like eclectic / eccentric, and while it's not a bookish type of name, I still think it's very "me". Your name is awesome btw.
ReplyDeleteYour blog name is cool! I really like it. It's almost intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI want my blog title to be friendly and always in that mode, so it'll stay HELLO, MY NAME IS ALICE... for a long, long time. I just love saying hello to people! LOL!
I guess you kind of grow into your blog name until it just becomes a part of you!
ReplyDeleteAnd Jackie- I too am a bit too old to be using "girl" in my title, but gal and woman just didn't sound right... plus, books don't care how old I am! lol
Great question! I started out with Hey Lady! because of something an ex-boyfriend used to say. Also, I thought it was catchy for a title. Then, when my blog moved more towards a book blog, I didn't think my name conveyed that I love reading, so I added on Whatcha Readin'? I actually think it's really cute, because people say "Hey lady! Whatcha readin'?" and don't even know that's my blog name!
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny who doesn't like their blog name. For exampled, Heather from A High and Hidden Place is tired of her blog name is and transitioning to Tales of a Capricious Reader. I think A High and Hidden Place is really cute!
